CD | Weezer | RADITUDE

Weezer are the type of band that makes music for people who don’t get out much. I reached this conclusion on that basis that leaving your bedroom generally exposes you to lots of new and interesting things. So unless you leave your bedroom only to attend a Weezer concert or buy a Weezer T-Shirt, you would more than likely discover any of the thousands of bands in the world producing way better music than these boringly repetitive Americans. I don’t hate the band, some of their tunes are great; but in the last fifteen years they’ve released seven albums of similar sounding CD filler. Really, they should have matured by now and started using some of that life experience to record some great music. Instead, this new album Raditude, is probably their most mundane, ordinary, and bland album to date. It sounds like the music you would expect to hear played at the prom in a teenage American movie. An aging Weezer will dress up like kids at the dance, take the stage for what must be the first time then bang out some of this filler. Of course the kids start rocking out, which in turn causes great disgust amongst the faculty. Sounds cliché? You should listen to the album. - Doug
