Used To Know How

With 2009 only in its infancy, so many failings are already being pinned to its nappy. It appears as though 2009 is the year  the Global Financial Crisis forsook. Featuring highly among the doomsday headlines is news that the car industry world-wide is being gravely affected by consumer confidence. Car sales tare he worst they’ve been for decades.

Probably the worst affected among car-producing nations, The US, is at a loose end. Major companies like Ford, General Motors and Chrysler are all crying poor and hoping the Senate feels like putting on its Fairy Godmother costume to the tune of some $15 billion. Yet we at Merge aren’t sure it’s all to do with the Ruddinator’s GFC. No. What used to be the pride of American Industry and exemplified ‘American Know How’ was lost somewhere in the 70’s when car manufacturers seemingly lost the plot. With the imminent Scottsdale Annual Classic Car Auction in Arizona, we think it would serve the industry well to take a look back at what American car manufacturing is all about.
