Canon G11 - Gettin' Giggy with it!

Yes kiddies, it's true.

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the G10, an absolute pocket rocket of a compact digital camera, Canon decided to take a leaf out of Spinal Tap's book... and turned it up to 11.

But how is it possible to improve on perfection you ask? What can the G11 offer over its older brother, from whom we and the Family have come to expect so much? Well, like any heir to the throne it will have to prove itself amongst its peers and stand up to a barrage of tests and rigorous comparisons to its successful siblings as the consumer market puts it through its picturific paces.

For now though, we can shed a little light for you on what to expect from this bouncing baby boy:

- 10mp High Sensitivity CCD
- 5x Zoom (28-140)
- DIGIC IV
- 2.8″ Vari-Angle LCD fold out screen
- Shoots in RAW and JPG
- ISO3200 (Up to ISO 12,800 in low light mode)
- Video, up to 1hr or 4gb
- Weighs only 355 grams
- Measures 112 x 76 x 48mm
- RRP $499USD (so maybe $600AU)

And, to top it off, the designers have adopted the oldskool faux leatherette texture to the grip, for all the diehard celluloid jockeys out there who like to be reminded of what they gave up when they crossed over to the Digital Dark Side.
Impressive... most impressive.

In the meantime, just have a little drool over these tantalising teasers... maybe cover your keyboard first.

October, kids. October...
