If silly rom-coms about cheating/bed swapping spouses starring either Daniel Auteil and/or cine-stalwart Gerard Depardieu are your idea of contemporary French cinema – think again. It ain’t all Amelie and Paris, Je t’Aime in the land of lait et miel. Waddle on down to the French Film Festival and be pleasantly surprised that not every French film concerns baby boomers drinking wine and complaining about the perils and pitfalls of life and love…er, yeah.
HEAD TO THE FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL at Palace/Nova cinemas on Thu 18 – Wed 31 March. The opening night gala features Amelie director Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s latest film, Micmas, and is $40. Other films from $17/$14c.
