As much as we hate "inverted commas" the title of the annual rally event that culminates with the parade of shiny metal objects on Gouger Street seemed more than a little full of classic moments and bizarre contradictions. Unfortunately we get a bit bashful about taking people's photos and therefore you won't see the bizillion (slight exaggeration) moustaches of varying accomplishment, nor will you see that little bit of dribble most men and some women wore at the corner of their mouth as they stood over the fire-red Ferraris and the sleek Maseratis-or-was-it-an-Aston-Martin. Indeed envy was in the air, along with an excitement that only loud rumbling engines and ridiculously over-engineered machines can induce. We like the photo above and how it depicts so succinctly the first stages of indoctrination as the kid is ushered gently towards the shiny red thing.
