Strap on your helmets and tie up them boot-laces because those mad-hatter-bike-couriers have thrown down a gauntlet for any Mary on two wheels (also for people with names other than Mary). It's the first ever, Mash Dash For Cash race to the top of the Union Street Car Park. The race is being organised by an organisation Merge only just found out about: the Adelaide Bike Messenger Association. Yes people - they're organised! The event is an open invitation for any bike enthusiast in Adelaide who fancies their chances in a race to the top of the 6-level car park and back down again. If you can't read the horribly pixelated yet awesomely designed poster, the event is being held on the 23rd JANUARY. Meet at 6PM by the Everfresh mural on the corner of Ebenezer Place and Union Street. And that's not all that's going on this week in the world of urban cycling. Yes it seems that while the streets of Adelaide have been beset on all sides by the fluro-coloured spandex brigade, all the usual street peddlers have been away in their lares preparing an awesome showing of street cycling culture to remind people that bikes can be a way of life - rather than just a hobby or sport. Thanks to our friends at Ready-Set-Ride we've got the scoop on a few events coming up that we just know you'll love. |
