Go | See | Do ist back! After a couple of months off, we're here to keep you and yours up to date with everything that's worth knowing in old Adelaide town. In our stunning new format, we're going to be condensing the entire week into one handy post, making it easier for you to have just one destination every week. Kind of like that Final Destination series. Except not everyone of these people will die in the next 120 minutes. ...OR WILL THEY??

What: Moon
When: Tonight, February 2 from sundown
Where: Moonlight Cinema, Botanic Gardens
Wha? Moonlight Cinema's still on? Didn't we leave that in January? After rigorous investigation: apparently not! And they're even still showing good shit, like Moon. It's that movie directed by Duncan Jones who - in case you missed it on the poster - is DAVID BOWIE'S SON. I have bolded that, italicised it, and underlined just in case you miss it this time.
The movie itself is a pretty solid trek through the ol' sci fi staples of identity, trips to the moon, and Sam Rockwell. Well worth checking out - and bonus irony that you'll be able to watch the moon while you watch Moon. Right?

What: Heart Shaped Guts
When: Wednesday, February 3 from 6pm
Where: FELTspace, 12 Compton St
Brigid Noone's one of those go-getting youngsters you wish you had the energy to be. While she's off, say, kicking Renew Adelaide into gear, you're at home chuckling over Two & A Half Men. While Brigid's completing her Masters in Visual Arts, there you are: attempting not to choke to death as you swallow a pack of Allen's Killer Pythons one by one, without chewing.
Brigid's latest exhibition is on at FELT, and it looks set to be tremendous. Head down Wednesday night - or you could just spend the night in, instead: lying in your own refuse, too lazy to get up and switch the TV off after binging on the Season 3 extras of Hardcastle & McCormack.

What: Carnevale
When: Saturday, Feb 6 & Sunday, Feb 7
Where: Adelaide Showground. Tickets $12.
I just looked up "Italy" on Google Image search for that picture, and MERCY you wouldn't believe that smut I was confronted with. What's that? Turn on Safe Search? No, but I like to live dangerously.
But to get the the point - Carnevale this weekend at the Showgrounds is bound to be more exciting than the picture I eventually chose. It's billed as an Italian "Fun, Food, and Fair" festival, but we're just interested in the delicious middle part of that phrase. Expect the most delicious of all the foods (lasagne), plus the second most delicious of all the foods (pizza) in ripe abundance. Plus lots of old Italian dudes with accordians. Mmm-mmmm.

What: SASA Awards
When: Saturday, Feb 6 & Sunday, Feb 7
Where: Mercury Cinema, 13 Morphett St
First thing is first: SASA means South Australian Screen Awards, and it was described to me by an avid local film maker as "the equivelant of a small town pumpkin grower's contest". I'm not too sure how to extend that metaphor any further - but suffice to say, pumpkin is crazy delicious and I have seen some amazing things carved out of them over Halloween. This is no longer a metaphor about South Australian film; I'm literally just talking about pumpkins.
Check out the full SASA program on the Merc website, but quickly (the timer's ticking): Saturday is Best of the SASA Shorts #1 program, feat. that rad Beards clip and seven other short films. Sunday is Adelaide, an independent flick that we've been keen to check out for some long years.

What: St Jerome's Laneway Festival
When: Friday, February 5
Where: Fowler's Live
Saint Jerome is apparently "Doctor of the Church", which I suppose would make him St Jerome, MD. (I honestly tried to read more of that article about his life in order to provide thrilling facts in this write up, but shamefully gave up when names like "Eustochium" started to come up.)
Saint Jerome's Laneway Festival returns to ADL after a killer show last year, and the lineup this time around looks just as sweet. Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, Sarah Blasko plus a glass and a half more - including Echo and the Bunnymen, who I predict will be hilarious. Tickets are sold out as Ice Cube.

What: Spin Off
When: Friday, February 5, 9pm
Where: Sugar. Tickets $5, or free for Fringe Benefits members.
The best part about modern society is that we've learnt to have our battles in different realms than just war. Today, when it's time to settle the score with your arch nemesis all you have to do is play a round of Guitar Hero. When a guy wants to impress a girl, he just kicks a football really far. Back in the day, you'd have to kill your enemy and wear their skin for at least a week to do any of those things.
The postmodern battle continues at Sugar this Friday, with the Spin Off finals! After a rigorous competition, there are four DJs competing for the rights to play at the Fringe Opening, in front of crowds exceeding 80,000 human beings. That's, like, worth 100,000,000 cats.
