I can't believe we actually pulled this email together. What a hectic week. The issue's dropped at street level, Thursday and for the past 48 hours we've been locked up in a photo studio in Kent Town, preparing the December supplement. Really, we're not too sure what's going on. I mean, we know there's a party on a boat, but when someone asked me this week if we were getting on board, I'd already blurted our "ARE YOU CRAZY? That party sounds like the script of a horror film.... trapped on a boat, on a river, on Halloween..." However we're sure that the heroes of the night (The Swiss and The Transatlantics) are more than prepared to defend the innocent and prevail over any evil that may beset Boat Party. Though, Merge's advice for the spooky weekend? Go see a moofie or somn.

What: Deeply Disturbing Halloween
When: Tonight
Where: Your Pad
Build up slowly into Halloween on Saturday with a deeply disturbing selection of flicks tonight with a bunch of pals (preferably the type that scare easily and amusingly). We recommend starting off light with Tod Browning's Freaks, and then ploughing into the depths with Lynch's Eraserhead, Harmony Korine's Gummo, then (only if you're particularly game) Pier Paolo Pasolini's Salo. Chances are you'll all be left feeling suitably dead inside.

What: Plus One: Halloween Special Dress Up Party
When: Saturday, October 31st, 9pm
Where: The Ed Castle, Currie Street, Adelaide
So there are Halloween parties a-plenty in the city on Saturday. The Merge team, not wanting to show bias to any place in particular, scraped the cobwebs off their trusty ol' Ouija board to consult the elder spirits. The ghastly answer: E-D-C-A-S-T-L-E. The Ouija has spoken. Lets go to The Ed Castle
Note: The winners to THREE DOUBLE PASSES to Sat's 'Plus One: Halloween Special' at Ed Castle are... Rebeccasaurus, LaurenG & Miranda.

What: Carnaval Brazil
When: Sunday, November 1st, 2pm
Where: The Gov, 59 Port Road, Hindmarsh
Scrub off your zombie makeup and blood from the night before and strap on your feathers, skimpy outfits and sequins: it's time for Carnavale! With the temperature dial set to boil over thirty-six-million degrees, a little chunk of flamboyant Brazil in your lazy Sunday arvo sounds just about right. With irresistible Brazilian music, dance, food and drink - grab your maracas and head to the Gov.

What: Free Tickets to King Lear
When: Tuesday, October 3rd, 6:30pm
Where: Dunstan Playhouse
If you'd managed to pinch a copy of the latest issue (Nov 09 out yesterday) you would already know that we're quite excited about the State Theatre Company's production of King Lear. Well, we must have sucked up pretty good because the State Theatre Company have layed 5 x DOUBLE PASSES on our desk this morning to give away to any ol Merger we like. So if you want a dose of culture but would rather spend your dime on daiquiris, now you can have both!! Leave your name at the bottom of this story as a comment to win.
