I’ve never been nervous writing a review before. Do I seem nervous? Don’t let my crafty text fool you, I’m definitely nervous. This may well be the best film I will see all year. I need to articulate my excitement in a clear and concise 180 word format, which will convince dedicated Merge readers to get their sweet asses to the cinema. Mmmm. Hows abooouut.... Go see this film. Just go see it now. See it twice. Support our Australian film industry. We don’t make too many corkers. This is a corker. Take your girlfriend, boyfriend, mum, roommate, uncle, sister and neighbour. On the surface, this film may appear to be just a charming observation of inner suburban life. But on the inside it examines marriage, family, class and religion. Sarah Watt’s storytelling will have you shocked and surprised, then holding back a tear before bursting into laughter. So, go see this film. When it’s over, grab a local bottle of red and discuss your fav moments by a fireplace somewhere. Go... Now...
