yeah yeah yeahs - interscope

Firstly, the lead singer Karen O is ridiculously hot. Her voice is nothing short of astounding and truly deserves to be in a band that could produce better music. Actually, that’s a bit harsh. There are some classic tunes scattered randomly throughout their three album catalogue, but there just isn’t enough of them. ‘Zero’ is the opening track on this new LP and has been pummeled over the airwaves by triple J for months. It’s filled with electro-pop goodness and will totally suck you in for more. ‘Heads will roll’ kicks in next, completely surprising listeners with two great tracks in a row. It’s electro-poppy like ‘Zero’, but all harshed up with crashing guitars and a killer chorus. ‘Off, off with ya head; dance, dance ‘till ya dead.’ Good stuff.  Besides the hauntingly executed finale, ‘Little shadow,’ and the very rocky ‘Dull life’, the album becomes mostly background music. There definitely is an audience that’ll argue otherwise with me, and maybe I’m too picky. I just get the feeling that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will never reach the benchmark set by their 2003 single ‘Maps’. That kicked ass.
