CD | Whitest Boy Alive | RULES

whitest boy alive - rules - bubbles records - inertia

I really wanted to like this album. On the face of things it had so much that should have won me over – European electronica tied to Kitsune and Modular, cool art work, and comparisons to Phoenix, Hercules and The Love Affair, and the Klaxons. This should have been a no brainer for at least four chunks. Unfortunately instead this album is plain old dull and boring.

Having said this, it’s a certainty that this album will be on high rotation at bars, cafes and anywhere else trying to be ‘right now’ with minimalist beats and grooves providing the soundtrack to mundane conversations about house prices and upcoming wine tours.

Rules isn’t the worst album I’ve ever heard. It’s ok. It just seems silly that a record called Rules breaks none whatsoever. - Red Paint
