14 years after releasing one of the greatest rap albums ever, the original Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Chef Raekwon has finally graced us with the long awaited sequel. Trying not to compare the new one with the old one will be tough, but completely unfair at the same time. Some summits will never be reached twice.
This one starts exactly how the first one finished with an excerpt from North Star, oh if only ears could salivate. After the 2 minutes of intro stuff, House of Flying Daggers drops, the irrefutable combination of Ghostface and Raekwon are back. I won’t start banging on about every single track and which ones suck and don’t suck, but after the first few listens I was more than a little amped. At a guess I’d say there are about 10 tracks that are pure Raekwon gold, about 3 that I continually skipped, and half a dozen I’m not so sure about yet.
Considering the long run of real average music coming from the Wu-Tang Clan of late, this album should put the lads from New York back on the radar.
