miss kittin - nobodys bizzness inertia music

The first mistake I made listening to Miss Kittin and The Hacker was to read their press release first.  Note to those who care: succinctness is a wonderful thing.  The use of phrases such as “glamorous space disco” and “sexy androgyny” had me rolling my eyes in an ‘I had my fix of open-mindedness during the Fringe’ mutter.  The second mistake was subjecting my ears to Two. When I lived in England I’d come home after late night bar shifts and sit down to watch music channels to chill out.  During this time I discovered a whole new genre we’re rarely made aware of in Australia: Eurotrash Techno (disclaimer: may not be a real genre).  Those novelty dance tracks made for dodgy European clubs usually featuring a half naked girl in the film clip – you know the ones.  Well on Two the band’s cover of Suspicious Minds not only fits this mould spectacularly, but even more disturbingly is really the only listenable track on the whole album.

Despite the tales spun in their press release, Miss Kittin and The Hacker are essentially two bedroom DJs who should stay in the confines of their parents’ garage and stop subjecting their Casio preset horrors onto the general public.
