It’s a late Summer afternoon and more sunnies-clad people turn up to your beach side house party. You panic knowing you haven’t got any fresh music to show off. One of your mates notices you scratching around your crusty CD collection. She hands you the new Mighty Underdogs album, a hip hop supergroup consisting of The Gift of Gab (Blackalicious), Lateef (Latyrx) and producer Headnodic (Crown City Rockers). The people quickly absorb the playful sounds and start dancing on the inside. A few drinks later heads begin to groove, morphing into some smooth rug cutting action on the dance floor.

 

Droppin’ Science Fiction has a chilled -out party vibe throughout. From Headnodic’s solid production that somehow makes you feel cooler than you actually are, to the mix of Lateef and Gift of Gab’s effortless flowy rhyming . Even with all this fun the two MCs hit the mark on tracks about hardship (‘So Sad’) and reminiscing (‘Want You Back’).
