Bluelines, Protection, Mezzanine; such amazing albums to play whilst you and your partner are gettin’ jiggy wit it. Good news, you now have a fourth album to add to your Massive Attack fornication-rotation.The bad news? Babies born in September end up with rainy birthdays, so maybe buy this one in a few months. Heligoland is hot as f-bomb. I’ve been battering the ‘Spillting the Atom’ EP that came out earlier this year, and the follow up album does not disappoint. It’s chock full of bass, intense lyrics, stomping drums and cool-as-cocaine melodies.
Tricky fans will revel in the two guest appearances by the soulful Martina Topley-Bird, while indie fans will be left scratching their heads as Damon Albarn tries his luck at some trip-hop (don’t be too hard on him, he does alright). I don’t think there’s going to be any big singles on Heligoland, but I think that will only increase its longevity for dedicated fans. Music starts to suck when you hear it on a car commercial. So for my first CD review of the year I’m cranking out 4.5 delicious Merge chunks. Hooray 2010! - Doug

Was never a fan of 100th window. Well, it never appeared in my fornication rotation anyways
... as if one could forget 100th Window.
Their best album, right after Mezzanine.
Can't wait for the gig in March!
Umm... 100th Window?
