I waited for what felt like forever for this film to finally be released at the cinema. Was it worth it? Hells yeah it was worth it. It’s Jim-freakin-Jarmusch! Not many people can make a film about pretty much nothing, roll the credits without actually explaining anything and still produce a great flick reeking of über-cool. That’s what Jarmusch does. If he had directed the Titanic for example, the film would have gone for around 9 hours and you would never have found out if the ship had actually sunk or not, but everyone would somehow be under water eating cake. In The Limits of Control we follow Lone Man (no character names), through Spain. We don’t really know what his intentions are or what will happen at the end of his journey, but you get the sense that someone is going to die. He liaises with Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, a hot nude chick, Gael García Bernal and Bill Murray; all the while exchanging matchboxes, diamonds, guitars, and eating bits of paper covered in coded algebra. As usual, every frame in this film looks stunning, and I would have no problems saying it’s the best looking film of the year. And no Mr. Cameron, it did not cost $400 million dollars to make. - Doug
