CD | Kid Cudi | MAN ON THE MOON: THE END OF DAY

AAArrrrrrrrgggghhhh... I’ve been infected! By the commercial stylings of altenative hip-hop artist Kid Cudi! It makes me sick that I love this album. I first heard of the Kid Cudi virus in late 2008 as it spread throughout the interwebs under the guise of a mixtape called ‘A Kid Named Cudi’. His ‘cool/fresh’ ways slowly seeped into my system. I couldn’t get enough. I turned zombie-like as I tried hunting down more music online but to no avail. All I wanted was to gnaw on the new hip-hop / electronica / rnb / rock juices deep in
Kid Cudi’s brain.

The hunt led me to the news that Cudi had signed to cry baby Kanye’s record label G.O.O.D.Music. The virus that had so violently taken hold started to fade away as I began to imagine what Mr. West would to this young revelation in hip-hop. I remembered what West did to Common and to himself with ‘808s’.

And as the virus began to recede and Cudi’s music relinquish its grip on my life, his new album Man on the Moon landed on my table. It’s a slow, surging album that creates a sense of awe and intrigue. I’m hungry again and Cudi’s brain has delivered something delicious.  - Tom
