CD | Diplo | DECENT WORK FOR DECENT PAY

diplo - decent work for decent pay - big dada - inertia

What do Bloc Party, CSS, M.I.A and Peter Bjorn and John have in common? A quick Google search says: Not Much. However they are all part of the soiree featured on the latest creation by Philadelphia–based producer and DJ, Diplo. Decent Work For Decent Pay provides an overview of Diplo’s production conquests these past four years (working with the likes of Kano, M.I.A and Santogold).

The remixed hip-hop tracks like the funky twang of Spank Rock’s ‘Put That Pussy On Me’ and the Brazilian twist of Bonde do Role’s ‘Salta O Frango’ hits the spot in terms of dancing the night away (preferably with a Brazilian of your own). However the electronic tracks miss like a blind archer with a moving target. Tracks like the remix of Bloc Party’s ‘Where is Home’ and Hot Chip’s ‘Shake a Fist’, sound more like an intoxicated robot on the wrong side of a messy night.

Decent Work is definitely a mixed bag; the milk bottles are delish but maybe skip the bananas.- Eloise
