DVD - Choke

Thanks to the magic of cinema, those of us that can’t be bothered reading books can finally enjoy another novel from Chuck Palahniuk. The first adaptation, Fight Club, was an instant cult classic, and whileChoke may not receive the same attention as its predecessor, it without doubt deserves your undivided love and attention. Continuing the trend of self help meetings, Choke’s focus is sex addiction. With somegood direction, Sam Rockwell’s interpretation of Palahniuk’s sexual deviant Victor is flawless, and produces one of the more memorable performances of 2008. When he isn’t having sex with a random stranger on the ‘circuit’, life gets quite confusing for Victor. His best friend is in love with a stripper, his mother may not be his mother, the one girl he has feeling for just wants to nail him, and there is alleged proof that he is infact the son of Jesus Christ. This film is funny from start to finish. Don’twatch it on your first or second date though; this is one to break out aftergoing steady for at least a couple of months. - Doug
