Loonastang is the best MC in Australia. Yeah I said it. This guy kills rhymes with more ease than it takes the Aussie Cricket team to put their face on something. Then we add veteran DJ Nixon, who’s CV includes supporting the likes of Mixmaster Mike, Z-Trip, Redman & Methodman. Finally, Chin Ken Slick brings the beats and gives the album its uniqueness. Unique because all the beats are attentively layered with no boring bits. Not something you generally expect on a locally produced hip hop LP.

 

‘Birdwatcher’ is the opener, and it’s a cracker. Loonastang’s lyrics are both thoughtful and flawless. It sets the earthy tone for the rest of the album, concentrating primarily on our planet and the environment.

 

The band make music for themselves and their friends, and that undeterred passion crashes through on each track. Without that distraction of selling out, Alter Reign have produced an album that sets a higher standard of craftsmanship for this genre. - Doug
