Whether you love or hate the Ed Banger label there is no question about their ability to create a distinct image.Whether it’s their polarising brandof dance music, album cover design or their award winning music videos, they make an impression. A Cross the Universe in true Ed Banger form andis both entertaining and memorable. The documentary follows Justice,Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay on a 20 day tour of America. The filmis a montage of their live show interspersed with tour antics. We learnmore about their evangelical bus driver and enigmatic manager, whosegun obsession is responsible for the Justice’s first arrest, through drawnout interviews. Gaspard and Xavier remain mysterious and are for onlyseen canoodling PYTs or in footage of their live (or not so live) concert. Thelive segment of the DVD is let down by abysmal sound quality. Ultimately, the documentary is just plain good visceral reality TV, whether the boys areglassing their fans in parking lots, getting married in Las Vegas or signinggroupies’ breasts. It’s a guilty pleasure, but a pleasure nonetheless. – Winston
